Ineos Styrolution announced the availability of mechanical recycling of polystyrene. The production of the new Styrolution PS ECO 440 is based on Tomra's NIR separation process, with a polystyrene purity of more than 99.9%. The new material is available in white and light gray.

This new type of polystyrene material is suitable for a wide range of applications including food contact. Styrolution PS ECO is also fully recyclable.

The first available grade is Styrolution PS ECO 440 MR100 WHITE. MR100 indicates that the material contains 100% post-consumer recycled content. Ineos Styrolution follows the concept of using Styrolution PS ECO material after a functional barrier, making the material suitable for food contact applications, such as XPS foam food packaging trays. The concept meets the requirements of FC Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 and is based on a layer of virgin polystyrene wrapped around recycled polystyrene. "We will start producing up to 1,000 tons in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2021, and work hard to increase production to achieve our commitment to use an average of 30% of polystyrene packaging products in Europe by 2025. Recycled ingredients," said Frank Eisentrager, PS EMEA, Product Director, Ineos Styrolution.

The production of materials is based on Tomra's classification process.

Many food and beverage companies are or consider using recycled materials in their packaging.

In the 1940s, magnets were used in industrial environments to remove iron-containing contaminants to help farmers capture and remove metal contaminants in grain troughs.

The composite RR tie may eventually become the next big thing for plastic wood. They have aroused the interest of manufacturers of marine piles (another structural timber alternative).
